A Day In Q

Heading into town

Today a bunch of us went into town to do laundry and eat lunch.  Roger and I went to the BIG Laundry across from the market. Luckily there were washers available when we walked in. It hasn’t gotten to the point where it is so busy you can’t even find a parking space. Once the RV Show starts it will be impossible! Here is a pic of the dryers. Lots and lots of them.

Grubstake – uum good!

After completing our laundry duties we headed to the Grubstake restaurant. It was a great place for lunch. They have fish and chips special for $5 and it was more than enough for me.

Checking out all the stuff

I wanted to walk around town so I had Roger drop me off at the light.  Then I got to wander thru the acres of stuff.  I was looking for a bike but didn’t see anything I liked.  I am sure I will find one somewhere.  I am also looking for a new chair as mine has seen better days.  I saw this giant chair but it looks like it may be a bit tough getting in or out of it.

I also saw this giant rock.  Just what I need for my rig.  I am trying to figure out where I could put it. HA!

I found the “Too Crazy Ladies booth in the same spot as it was last year.  They are making some license plate holders for me.  I will pick them up in a day or two.  It makes no sense to hurry out here.

Concert in the desert

I walked back to our campsite.  On the way I saw this group of musicians giving a concert out in the middle of nowhere.  They were playing country music when I went by but Ann told me they were also playing gospel when she walked past them.  I must apologize for the fuzzy pics.  I am still trying to get used to my new camera and had it on the wrong setting.

Road to our home

This is the turnoff to our campsite.  It is #534 and it even showed up on my GPS when I first got there.  It is amazing how a little dirt road can even appear on a GPS.

Finally our campsite.  As you can see there is lots of room for all to come out and enjoy the wonderful desert with us.

  1. Hi. Your post is very informative and I like that you have been there before! I like the fotos as well. I plan on going Quartzsite but it will be after the RV show. My concern is security. That is, I have a travel trailer (nothing new, 1972, so, should not be too attractive to anyone) that I will have to leave unattended while doing errands in and out of town. Have you had any experience, or heard of theft, vandelism while there? Thank you in advance for your reply.

    • I personally have not heard of any vandalism either year I have been here. If you are going into town I would suggest you lock your travel trailer just the same as you would lock your home. I think it is probably much safer out here in the desert then in any big city. Your neighbors are always somewhat close by and you could introduce yourself to them and they would probably be glad to watch over anything you leave while running errands.

      • Thank you for your quick response. I suspected as much but it’s reasuring when someone with personal knowledge chimes in. Very generous of you to take the time to do so. Maybe one day I can personally thank you.

  2. Told you that camera takes some getting used to. Hope you can figure it out. We still aren’t happy with the focusing on close-ups. Sometimes it works fine, others it doesn’t. Our old camera has quit working so we hate to send this one in but that’s what Nikon said to do when Jim contacted them about the autofocus problem. Otherwise we really like how it shoots in low light compared to our other camera.

  3. The big “Q” looks and sounds like fun. I’m probably one of a very few that haven’t been there yet (camping).
I was there many years ago at a gem show, but it wasn’t anything like it is now. My fondest memory of it back then – Indian fry bread. Love that stuff. It was the also first time I had seen fried ice cream, but I wasn’t brave enough to try that.
I’m heading up to Apache Junction in a couple of weeks. Need to take care of some personal business and get my social security started before heading back up north for the summer.
