Camp Host – Panorama Point

Camp Host

In case you haven’t heard yet I was hired by Hoodoo to be their camp host at Panorama Point, a NFS campground on Baker Lake in the Cascades in Washington.  I got the job while touring the big tent in Quartzsite last January.  I have to report there on May 14 so will begin heading up there in the next couple of weeks.  I am really getting excited about spending my entire summer in this beautiful spot.  I copied a few pics to show you where I will be camp hosting.

It is located about 17+ miles from the small town of Concrete, WA where I will be doing much of my shopping.  The next largest city is Bellingham, WA which is about 70 miles from the campground where I will probably do major shopping.

Last state to visit in the west

Washington is the only state in the west that I haven’t visited.  I will now be able to fill in that empty spot on my map.  At last!!!

  1. Jim, what a great summer job for you and Chica. I enjoyed your summer blogs from your other camp hosting job a couple years ago. You sure met some nice campers. Have a great summer.

  2. Congrats, Jim, it is a beautiful area. Maybe if anyone if going to meet up with you and coming past one of the larger towns they could do some shopping for you.

  3. Yippee! We are looking forward to having you up in our Northwest area! Burlington WA is much closer to Panorama Point than B-ham and has Costco, Fred Meyer, Safeway grocery and I think an outlet mall. So you may not have to go so far for a big shopping trip. See you this summer!

    • Chica and I are looking forward to seeing you guys up there. Thanks for the tip about Burlington. Yes it is much closer.

  4. Can you give me the name of the company you contracted with. Hubby and I would love to camphost in that area next summer. Congrats on your new job. It looks beautiful there.

  5. Congrats Jim – you will love being “stuck” in this place!!! But Washington is next to last of the States in the West – you forgot Alaska. 😉

  6. Dress warm! Mid-May, there may still be snow, and expect grey skies and wet weather until mid-June. If it gets too damp in the LD, your AC will pull moisture out quite well. I have been known to have the furnace and AC running at the same time to reduce internal humidity. That being said it is a spectacular area. Concrete shopping is somewhat limited, so you will be traveling, but that is ok.

    • Thanks Ken for the tip on the A/C. I was camphosting in Central Oregon 2 years ago and know how the weather can get. It snowed there several times in May before the weather turned absolutely beautiful.

  7. Jim,
Pack your long johns! It won’t get warm there until after July 4th. At the earliest. 🙂
    I always enjoy your blog!!
